Spring 2005 Tour Takes Shape
This spring’s “Jerusalem Women Speak: Three Women, Three Faiths, One Shared Vision” tour is already coming into focus. Partners for Peace is very pleased to announce the tour’s three speakers as Nina Mayorek, Aitemad Muhanna, and Diana Kattan. The tour will run from March 28-April 16 and take the women to Florida, Iowa, Minnesota, and Wisconsin, as well as Washington, DC, Chicago, and the University of Notre Dame. This will be the ninth such tour run by Partners for Peace.
Our previous tours have spoken to numerous World Affairs Councils, universities, churches, mosques, and synagogues. Newspaper interviews are available under “Latest News” on this website. The women have also appeared on CNN International and BBC World Radio. Through all the fighting and naysaying of the last four years we have continued to find women committed to a just peace that will bring freedom, security, and hope for both Palestinians and Israelis.
We anticipate similar media arrangements for the spring tour as Americans seek to learn more about the Gaza plan put forward by Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon. Aitemad Muhanna is our first participant ever from the Gaza Strip and we look forward to hearing her thoughts on what is happening and will likely happen in Gaza this summer with the possible Israeli redeployment from Gaza.
American audiences have shown themselves to be thrilled to hear from Palestinian and Israeli women who recognize the need to end the occupation, end the violence, and build freedom and security for both Palestinians and Israelis. The grassroots demand for the tour across the country continues to be very encouraging. Interfaith gatherings are some of the most satisfying of the presentations we make. We hope this spring to find interfaith and university audiences interested in learning more about Palestinian-Israeli peacemaking and the steps they can take as engaged Americans to assist the process.
Recent Jerusalem Women Speak tours have been made possible through the generous assistance of individual donors around the country as well as by grants from the Foundation for Middle East Peace, the Arca Foundation, and the Firedoll Foundation.
We urge supporters of a just Palestinian-Israeli peace who want to hear from the voices of both Palestinian and Israeli peacemakers to support the spring tour.
