An Opportunity for Reflection
On the occasion of International Women’s Day, Partners for Peace would like to extend our greatest thanks and warmest respect to the countless women who are working for peace in Israel, Palestine and around the world.
We pause on this day to reflect on our work and our message. It is with great pleasure that we look back on eight years of Jerusalem Women Speak tours, featuring 27 courageous women. As Partners for Peace Founder and President Jerri Bird puts it, these “extraordinary, ordinary women” have given us the strength and the vision to continue our work. Their daily struggles and commitment to peace and justice are a living example to us all.
The Jerusalem Women Speak alumni recently provided further inspiration when they gathered in the Palestinian city of Beit Jala this December to share stories and renew their commitment to peacemaking between their peoples. Their statement reminds us that “peace is possible but only if it is peace with justice.”
We rest assured that Israeli and Palestinian women will always find ways to work together and will, one day, lead their peoples to a lasting peace. In the meantime, we are proud that the efforts of Partners for Peace can contribute to their work and amplify their voices.
