Eleventh National Jerusalem Women Speak Tour a Success!

Partners for Peace is proud to announce the conclusion of the Eleventh Annual “Jerusalem Women Speak: Three Women, Three Faiths, One Shared Vision” tour. The tour was another great success, with more than 30 events in over 20 different communities. Sherene Abdulhadi, Roni Hammerman and Amira Hillal presented a series of strong events that left a lasting impact on audiences around the US.

The three speakers were able to directly speak to over 2,400 people who attended JWS events and reached thousands more through more than 20 newspaper interviews and editorial board meetings, radio interviews and television talk show appearances (see list below). An editorial in the Iowa City Press Citizen, explained: What was extraordinary about the visit was the opportunity to speak to three Middle Eastern women representing the three Abrahamic faiths about their commitment to a peaceful resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. In our post 9/11 world, we’ve grown used to headlines about suicide bombers, life under occupation and the ongoing “global war on terror.” Our three visitors brought a human face to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and showed us that national and religious divides can be overcome. General American audiences were similarly inspired. Comment Cards collected from various tour stops reflected great admiration and heartfelt emotion for the stories and conscience of the JWS women: “You have no idea how much you taught me. I hear about the conflict almost daily, but never really understood what was going on. Thank you.” (From Holy Family University- Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) “This exceptional gift presented to us by these three extraordinary women who love mankind only needs to be increased. . . Thank you.” (From Midwestern State University- Wichita falls, Texas) “Eye (and mind) opening to this naïve American. Thank you for your work and efforts.” (From Coe College- Cedar Rapids, Iowa) “Very informative. Very Courageous women. It was a wonderful point of view that we do not get to hear. I would recommend this to everyone I know.” (From Holy Family University- Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) “Keep up this vital work!” (From The Gill Foundation- Colorado Springs, Colorado) Reflecting on the tour, we can only extend these feelings of solidarity and thanks to our three extraordinary speakers: Sherene Abdulhadi, Roni Hammerman and Amira Hillal. And to our audiences around the US who have supported our work and listened with open minds and hearts to the courageous and visionary women who have graced each of our eleven tours. It is now time to turn towards the Twelfth Jerusalem Women Speak tour to take place in Spring 2006.
