Partners for Peace recommends these upcoming delegations to Israel/Palestine sponsored by our partner, Interfaith Peace-Builders. Please see below for details on the trips. Contact
Interfaith Peace-Builders directly for further information.
Interfaith Peace-Builders has taken 21 delegations and over 275 people to Israel/Palestine. Delegations are a unique opportunity to learn about the current situation in Israel/Palestine and understand the effects of the ongoing Israeli occupation.
Your on-the-ground experience will enrich your understanding of the conflict as you meet courageous Israelis and Palestinians working for peace and justice, and witness the current realities of life in Israel and the occupied Palestinian territories. Delegates return to North America energized and transformed.
Join one of IFPB's three delegations for 2007 to learn directly from Israelis and Palestinians, be an eyewitness, support those working for peace, and enrich your education and advocacy efforts in your home community when you return.
Assessing the Prospects for Peace: 40 Years of Occupation, 40 Years of Nonviolent Resistance
May 26 – June 9, 2007
This delegation, cosponsored by the
American Friends Service Committee, coincides with the 40th anniversary of the 1967 war and the beginning of the Israeli military occupation of the West Bank and Gaza Strip. The delegation will explore the impact of 40 years of occupation and nonviolent resistance on both Israeli and Palestinian societies.
You will learn from Israelis and Palestinians about real issues in their lives: the Wall, settlements, violence, and prospects for peace. You’ll meet farmers, activists, students, and parents. You will also analyze the US role in the conflict, and wrestle with ways to translate your experience to others when you return home.
The leaders of this delegation are
Tony Bing and
Ilise Cohen.
Israeli and Palestinian Women Working for Peace: Realities, Struggles, and Vision for the Future
July 28 – August 11, 2007
This delegation will feature meetings with the women leading Palestinians and Israelis towards peace. You will meet with the leaders of women’s organizations and focus on their work in rejecting violence and animosity and building the foundations of a more hopeful future for all people in the region.
Additionally, you will hear from a wide range of other Israelis and Palestinians about their lives, struggles, and hopes for the future. Delegates will visit the Wall, discuss settlements, meet Palestinian and Israeli students, and travel inside Israel to meet Israelis and Palestinians who live there. Finally, you will analyze the US role in the conflict, and wrestle with ways to translate your experience to others when you return home.
Mark Braverman and
Meera Shah will lead this delegation.
Olive Harvest Delegation
October 27 – November 10, 2007
This delegation, cosponsored with the
American Friends Service Committee, will provide an opportunity to participate in the Palestinian olive harvest season—generally a time of great community activism, where people of all ages from Palestinian and Israeli peace and justice groups, and international activists join farmers as they reap their harvest. It is international support that makes the harvest possible in many cases. As with other delegations, you will also meet other Israelis and Palestinians working for justice.
